Recycled Upcycled Retro Industrial Desk/Table Lamp
This is a truly unique, one-off piece of lighting, created from all recycled materials except the plug and flex. The domed metal shade had a previous life as a downpipe cover on the roof of Eastleigh Locomotive Engineering Works. The wooden base is made of oak. The vintage brass switch and lamp holder adds more style.
The domed shade has been sand blasted and powder coated in a clear lacquer finish. The 35cm diameter/45mm thick oak base has been cut to shape, sanded and waxed to a beautiful finish that shows off the grain wonderfully. The channels on the bottom of the base for the electrics have been drilled or routed out then covered with reclaimed leather to protect the surface that the lamp sits on. The domed shade is easily removable for eases of refitting the light bulb, but will not slip off easily due to the slots that it sits in and the weight.
It is very heavy at nearly 10kg so is only suitable for a desktop or tabletop use and is not suitable for wall mounting, but would work well in any room. The holes in the shade project wonderful shapes and shadows on nearby surfaces, as can be seen in the images above.
Width 35 cm
